Artwork Guide

We have a fully equipped in-house artwork studio. We will quote you a fixed price for any artwork we produce at the outset, so you can keep control of your costs.

We can also handle artwork files supplied by yourself, via email or hardcopy. We have invested in both PC and Apple Mac publishing applications to cover all bases. Therefore we accept files in both PC and Apple Mac format. We constantly update our programs so we can provide a full creative service with the latest technology that the industry can offer. If required, we send you a colour proof for colour matching purposes and for checking content before going to print. Please note that colour proofs will give an idea of what the job will look like but cannot be a guaranteed match.

All Artwork we produce is archived on our back-up system indefintely. This makes updates simple and inexpensive.

Customer Supplied Artwork

Adobe Illustrator. Outline all text and include all embedded images. Save as an eps file.

Adobe Photoshop. Resolution must be set to 300dpi at actual size when starting your new document. Save file as either an eps or tiff.

QuarkXPress (v7 or earlier). Please ensure all fonts and pictures used in your Artwork are supplied to us in a separate folder using the “Collect for Output” function under the “File” menu drop down. Compress the document using stuffit or winzip before uploading or sending your order via email. Compressing the document reduces the file size and makes it easier to transfer.

Adobe In Design. Please ensure all fonts and pictures used in your Artwork are supplied to us in a separate folder using the “Package” function under the “File” menu drop down. Compress the document using stuffit or winzip before uploading or sending your order via email. Compressing the document reduces the file size and makes it easier to transfer.

PDF Files. It is important that the PDF is supplied in the right way. We request that all of our Artwork be supplied as high or press resolution (300dpi).
These are the options which must be set for printing purposes:
Resolution (Press)
Compression Settings (for colour and greyscale should be down sampled to 300dpi - with “auto impression” set on high)
Font Embedding (should be set to “embed all fonts”)

Microsoft Documents

We can use the following formats for printing:
MS Word
MS Publisher

We would need to convert your document into a ‘print ready PDF’. We may charge to convert a Microsoft File depending on the content of the file. However, there is a website that can convert any Microsoft Document into a print ready PDF. It is straightforward and FREE.

Useful notes about your artwork

Imposition. Please ensure that any file you supply is not imposed.

Artwork Bleed. Allow 3mm bleed all round the edge of your artwork. This is for trimming after the job is printed.

Colour Mode. Save your files in any of the above formats but be sure that the colour mode is set to CMYK. RGB is only a screen representation and is not suitable for printing purposes.

Following these simple guidelines will ensure that there is no delay with your printing. Feel free to contact us if you have any problems.
